April / May Newsletter
Better late than never.
The Spring Sonoma County Home and Garden Show was a great time. We saw some old friends and met new friends. Come to think of it, this is one of the reasons you may be receiving our newsletter. Sweetwater Landscape introduced the new RainXchange™ Rainwater Harvesting Sysytem to Sonoma County and created one of our unique Pondless® Waterfalls that flowed into the patio where our RainXchange™ reservoir stored around 250 gallons for the show. We had a great response and interest from the crowds of people who stopped by. Thank you for stopping by and to those who attended Sweetwater’s Rainwater Harvesting seminars.
The first RainXchange system is in! On April 15th Ed Beaulieu of Aquascape Inc. came to SBI Landscape Materials in Windsor to help complete a 3,000 gallon RainXchange™ System. Ed also gave a seminar on the evening of the 14th at the Fountain Grove Inn as well as the 15th at SBI about Rainwater Harvesting, the RainXchange™ system and storm water management. Ed is an amazing speaker and he brought some local facts about our rain patterns, the enormous potential we have in Sonoma County to collect rain and how important storm water management is to our environment. We will discuss this more in future articles.
Water is in the news again. It will most likely be announced that county wide water rationing will go from an voluntary 15% to a mandatory 25%.
About 50% to 60% of our water use is in the landscape. We can certainly help most of you achieve a 25% or more reduction in your water use by upgrading and making your irrigation systems more efficient. The new technologies and techniques that are now available and affordable can help us all see our way through this water crisis. Rebates are also available for upgrading your systems.
